Mission

MoMCAAL is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and advancing modern and contemporary African art. Our goal is to:

  • Amplify African artistic voices globally.
  • Bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary African art.
  • Connect the African diaspora with their heritage through artistic expression.
  • Foster dialogue & education about Africa’s cultural and creative impact.

Vision

We aspire to be a world-class institution where African art is explored, appreciated, and redefined for future generations. Through our exhibitions, research, and educational programs, we seek to reshape the narrative of African art, challenging stereotypes and showcasing the continent’s creative excellence.

  • Amplify African artistic voices globally.
  • Bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary African art.
  • Connect the African diaspora with their heritage through artistic expression.
  • Foster dialogue & education about Africa’s cultural and creative impact.

Our Story

The idea for MoMCAAL was born out of a need to create a dedicated space that celebrates African artistic innovation beyond the continent. While African art has influenced global artistic movements for centuries, it has often been underrepresented in major international institutions.

  • Recognizing this gap, MoMCAAL was founded with the purpose of:

    • Showcasing Africa’s artistic contributions on a global scale.
    • Creating a cultural hub for Africans in the diaspora to reconnect with their heritage.
    • Providing a platform for African artists to gain international recognition and influence.

Today, MoMCAAL stands as a beacon of African creativity, resilience, and innovation, offering an immersive experience that connects the past, present, and future of African artistry.
